So much of the yard is in shade at this house we are renting. But the two-level deck gets full sun.
So this week I went through more unpacked moving boxes and found some of my planters.
I bought some potting soil and annuals, filled the planters and put them around the deck railing. Now the deck is bright with color. These are photos of the flowers I bought.

A few of the neighbors have stopped by to introduce themselves and welcome us to the neighborhood. Our neighbors that live next door brought a lovely potted dahlia for us when they stopped by.

Ahhh, that's got to make you feel better – being back East and starting to garden and greet neighbors. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to do a little bit of gardening again. And being back East is wonderful.
DeleteIn a few weeks, when these fill out, you will have a glorious riot of color on your deck. How fun!! It can be very hard to "garden" in a rental property - you have found a colorful and lovely way to add flowers to your home. Perfect! And how nice of the neighbor to bring the dahlia!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to garden in a rental property. You can't really make the yard your own. It was very sweet of the neighbors to bring us a dahlia. It made us feel welcome.
DeleteYou have kind and friendly neighbours. Your garden will look lovely when the plants begin to fill up.
ReplyDeleteThe neighbors did make us feel welcome. By August the planters should be filled out.
